A semi–analytical model of disk evaporation by thermal conduction

چکیده

The conditions for disk evaporation by electron thermal conduction are examined, using a simplified semi–analytical 1-D model. The model is based on the mechanism proposed by Meyer & Meyer–Hofmeister (1994) in which an advection dominated accretion flow evaporates the top layers from the underlying disk by thermal conduction. The evaporation rate is calculated as a function of the density of the advective flow, and an analysis is made of the time scales and length scales of the dynamics of the advective flow. It is shown that evaporation can only completely destroy the disk if the conductive length scale is of the order of the radius. This implies that radial conduction is an essential factor in the evaporation process. The heat required for evaporation is in fact produced at small radii and transported radially towards the evaporation region.

The Role of Thermal Conduction in Accretion Disks with Outflows

In this work we solve the set of hydrodynamical equations for accretion disks in the spherical coordinates (r,θ,ϕ) to obtain the explicit structure along θ direction. We study a two-dimensional advective accretion disc in the presence of thermal conduction. We find self-similar solutions for an axisymmetric, rotating, steady, viscous-resistive disk. We show that the global structure of an advec...

Experimental validation of an analytical model for predicting the thermal and hydrodynamic capabilities of flat micro heat pipes

An analytical model by Lefèvre and Lallemand (1) that couples a 2D hydrodynamic model for both the liquid and the vapor phases inside a flat micro heat pipe (FMHP) and a 3D thermal model of heat conduction inside the FMHP wall has been modified. It consists of superposing two independent solutions in order to take into account the impact of evaporation or condensation on the equivalent thermal ...

Hot Accretion with Saturated Conduction

Observations of the hot gas surrounding Sgr A* and a few other nearby galactic nuclei imply electron and proton mean free paths comparable to the gas capture radius: hot accretion likely proceeds under weakly-collisional conditions in these systems. As a result, thermal conduction, rather than convection, may be important on all scales and affect the global flow properties. The self-similar ADA...

Investigation of the Effects of Non-Linear and Non-Homogeneous Non-Fourier Heat Conduction Equations on Temperature Distribution in a Semi-Infinite Body

In this paper, the non-Fourier heat conduction in a semi-infinite body was examined. The heat wave non-Fourier heat conduction model was used for thermal analysis. Thermal conductivity was assumed temperature-dependent which resulted in a non-linear equation. The heat source was also considered temperature-dependent which resulted in a non-homogeneous equation. The Mac-Cormack predictor-correct...

MHD Flow and Heat Transfer of SiC-TiO2/DO Hybrid Nanofluid due to a Permeable Spinning Disk by a Novel Algorithm

This study intends to semi-analytically investigate the steady 3D boundary layer flow of a SiC-TiO2/DO hybrid nanofluid over a porous spinning disk subject to a constant vertical magnetic field. Here, the novel attitude to single-phase hybrid nanofluid model corresponds to considering nanoparticles and base fluid masses to compute solid equivalent volume fraction, solid equivalent de...
